Team USA Basketball has been very engaged on social media in the lead-up to the Olympics, for better or worse. On the positive side of that fan engagement was a video taken by DeMar DeRozan of fellow teammates Jimmy Butler and Kyrie Irving singing along to Vanessa Carlton’s “A Thousand Miles.” The guys’ rendition of the song was good enough, but the real star of the video was Carmelo Anthony’s grumpy, annoyed mug at the end of it.

If you somehow managed to miss this video over the weekend, check it out.

Melo ain’t having it…😂

The Internet rightly had plenty of fun with this video, and Anthony’s perceived annoyance at the younger players and being the team’s elder statesman was fodder for many jokes. The video became so big that following Team USA’s 110-66 romp of Nigeria he was asked about his reaction in that video by an NBA TV reporter in a post-game interview.

Turns out he actually likes Carlton’s song, it’s just early mornings he hates.

Either Carlton was watching the game last night or someone alerted her to Anthony’s apology, but either way she took to Twitter to accept it.

Now that that is cleared up, the guys can go back to making fun of Draymond Green.
