When it comes to surprising fans, few celebrities can top John Cena. The WWE Superstar is the record-holder for Make-A-Wish Foundation wishes granted with over 500 and he’s far from done.

Recently, Cena took a break from granting wishes to sit down and read some thank you cards from people he’s helped along the way or credited his “Never Give Up” mantra with getting them through a tough time in their lives. What he doesn’t realize as he’s reading the heartfelt “thank you” messages is that the people who wrote them are standing behind a giant curtain.

They include Raihan Ahmed, who was told he would never walk again following a car accident. Chris Grebe lost both his parents when he was 19, but found a way through thanks to Cena’s motivation. And Evy Russell, who persevered for years hoping to be able to adopt a child and cited Cena as a motivator to keep trying.

Finally, Cena was shown a video of Tyler Schweer, a young boy whose mother suffered from breast cancer. A message and wristband from Cena helped Schweer get through and his mother survived. As the video ends, Cena says, “it’s really cool to see.”

And that’s when Schweer breaks through the curtain Cena-style and the two embrace.

Get your tissues ready.

A beautiful moment repaid to a man who has provided so many to others.
