Linda McMahon

The Republicans and Democrats have clearly been straddling their party lines with a number of Senate confirmations for Donald Trump’s cabinet nominees, but it seems Linda McMahon has a way of bridging the gap this country may need more than ever before.

The former WWE executive was approved by the Senate by a vote of 81-19 to confirm her position as the head of the Small Business Administration.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., said McMahon will “prioritize growing jobs over growing government bureaucracy.”

“In so many states, including mine, that’s a welcome change from Washington,” McConnell said.

McMahon previously ran for Senate in 2010 and 2012, so she was not exactly a stranger to the Senate floor, which helped shed the idea of her being the typical outsider in Washington. Having the endorsement of her previous Democratic opponents from Connecticut (Richard Blumenthal and Chris Murphy) surely helped. If they can give their endorsement, there was not likely to be much standing in the way for McMahon.

It turns out she had one of the easiest paths to her Cabinet position, receiving an 18-1 endorsement from the Senate panel to proceed with her nomination process and then running away with the Senate confirmation vote like The Rock against the local high school wrestling team.

Maybe, just maybe, having a McMahon in the Cabinet will calm everything in D.C. down a bit.
