“Professional wrestling” might be scripted and the results are fake, but the injuries can be very real. Ask TK O’Ryan.

On Friday night, Ring of Honor held a Six-Man Tag Team Championship match. What should have been an exciting, chaotic bout turned into a brutal scene. You may not want to watch this video if you’re squeamish.

O’Ryan, part of the wrestling group The Kingdom, attempted to moonsault off the ring onto his opponent. The jump was a beauty, but O’Ryan overshot his landing point. Unfortunately, O’Ryan landed on a guardrail shin-first. The instant impact kept him on the floor in serious pain.

Legs aren’t supposed to bend like that.

O’Ryan had to be helped off the floor and was replaced by Silas Young.

Eventually, after getting some help, O’Ryan posted updates on Twitter. The news wasn’t good. He suffered a broken shin and will probably need surgery to repair the damage. Also, he was upset that his brand new Ric Flair sock was cut through.

In an attempt to entertain those watching in the arena and at home, O’Ryan seriously damaged his shin. No matter what you think of wrestling, his commitment to the sport is undeniable.

Yes, attempting the jump was probably a bad idea. But, imagine if he would have landed it? It was an awe-inspiring risk. However, it didn’t pay off.

Let’s hope O’Ryan heals quickly and returns to the ring sooner than later. If I’m him, I second guess ever pulling that move off again. But, knowing his end-goal is to provide pure entertainment, I wouldn’t be shocked to see him do it again – at least after checking where potential guard rails are.
