If you’re Rob Gronkowski, you likely spend most of your offseason yelling and throwing drinks around. (And, of course, dancing.)

This year, he added an appearance in the ring at Wrestlemania, where he helped real-life buddy (and former football player) Mojo Rawley win the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal.

Last night, WWE’s SmackDown was in Boston, so it made perfect sense for Gronk to be at ringside. And if you thought Gronk would be at ringside and not get involved again, you’ve apparently never seen a wrestling match AND you’re unaware of Gronk’s essence, and in some ways I envy both of those things.

Here’s the match, a callback to the Wrestlemania event when WWE’s Jinder Mahal goaded Gronkowski into interfering by slapping Rawley around and throwing a drink in Gronk’s face. Those two were in singles action, with Mahal making his SmackDown debut (he’d previously been associated with the Raw brand):

That’s some classic WWE storytelling. One might think that the score had been settled at WrestleMania, with the initial confrontation followed by Gronk’s payback leading to Rawley’s win. But, no, the heel hasn’t truly lost until he’s also been beaten again, preferably while being humiliated by a tangentially-related famous person.

Still, Gronkowski is the perfect tangentially-related famous person for this, because if there’s something going on in front of a crowd, he’s going to participate. Also, though this exact moment had likely been planned for some time, Mahal did actually injure fellow wrestler Finn Balor on Monday’s Raw, so he didn’t have a lot of goodwill built up:

This likely ends Gronk’s WWE career for the time being, but you never know when he’ll pop up again. It’s Gronk. He could drop by your place tonight if you say you have some beer in the fridge.
