The dynamic Deebo Samuel missed part of his San Francisco 49ers’ victory over the Green Bay Packers this past weekend. While the 49ers celebrated another NFC Divisional Round victory, San Francisco didn’t emerge without some attrition. Samuel left the game early and did not participate in the second half. He suffered a shoulder injury, but imaging done on him showed no signs of a fracture.

Despite Deebo’s absence, the 49ers still prevailed over the pesky Packers. San Francisco’s victory assures them that they’ll play for the right to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl next weekend. But will they have the prolific Samuel around?

49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan spoke to the media this week after the team’s victory on Saturday. Shanahan offered an update on Samuel, as the team says they’ll be taking it day by day.

NFL.com wrote, “As for his availability for the NFC Championship Game against the Detroit Lions on Sunday, that remains to be seen. Samuel underwent imaging that showed no fracture, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters on Monday. Shanahan added that it will not be until at least Wednesday that the 49ers will begin to have a better idea as to Samuel’s potential availability.”

Samuel creates a lot of havoc and issues for other teams when he’s in the lineup. He could prove to be instrumental if the 49ers want to get back to the Super Bowl. So, his presence, or lack thereof, will be a huge storyline to watch this week.
