The status of Brandon Aiyuk is up in the air. Despite contract discussions, Aiyuk will appear at the San Francisco 49ers training camp this week. The Niners are prepared to see this one through as camp gets underway.

General manager John Lynch spoke to reporters on Tuesday to preview the upcoming season. Lynch fielded a variety of questions, including on Aiyuk. Lynch appeared confident the team would get a deal done but wouldn’t fully guarantee it.

“No absolutes there. We fully intend on Brandon being a Niner moving forward,” Lynch said via Pro Football Talk. “We’re always open to listen to things, but, like I said, we expect Brandon to be an integral part of our team like he has been and excited about that.”

The 49ers drafted Aiyuk in 2020 out of Arizona State. In 2022, Aiyuk broke out with eight touchdowns during the regular season. Last year, he posted a career-high in yards while falling just shy of his eight TDs with seven of his own.

He’s been one of the most productive receivers in the league and a crucial part of the Niners offense. But the talks for a new contract haven’t advanced the way he’s wanted it to. He’s requested a trade but will still appear at camp this week. It seems both sides want to remain on the same page, so it will be interesting to see how that comes together.
