The Big Ten Conference made its decision on the status of Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh. While the Wolverines have gotten involved in a sign-stealing scandal, many have wondered what type of punishment, if any, would be given to the program.
The first dose of punishment was revealed on Friday. The Big Ten announced a suspension for coach Harbaugh through the rest of the regular season. That means Harbaugh won’t be on the sidelines for Michigan’s upcoming games against Penn State, Maryland, and Ohio State.
The details, as NBC’s Nicole Auerbach posted, include, “As a penalty imposed on the institution, the University football team must compete without its Head Football Coach for the games remaining in the 2023 regular-season, effective immediately. This disciplinary action shall not preclude the University or its football team from having its Head Football Coach attend practices or other football team activities other than the game activities to which it applies.
“For clarity, the Head Football Coach shall not be present at the game venue on the dates of the games to which this disciplinary action applies.”

Granted, it appears that Harbaugh can still be around the team during the week. Also, Michigan is reportedly expected to take this whole situation to court.
It doesn’t appear over by a long shot, but at least we can get most of the fodder out of the way now.
