After his performance against the Philadelphia Eagles, the NFL honored San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel on Wednesday. The league announced that they had named Samuel the NFC’s Offensive Player of the Week.

The 49ers made those honors official with an announcement on social media.

“Deebo go to stompin’ in his Air Force Ones,” the 49ers said.

Samuel and the 49ers went into this weekend with a chip on their shoulder. After losing the NFC Championship Game last January, Deebo and the Niners had maintained they believed they were the better team. If Brock Purdy didn’t hurt his elbow, the 49ers believe they would have won and went to Super Bowl LVII instead. Obviously, that didn’t happen, and you cna’t rewrite history.

But what you can do is give props where it’s due. The 49ers had been doing a lot of talking all offseason. Deebo was at the forefront of that. They went into Philly for a much-anticipated game and blew the doors off the previously 10-1 Eagles. They handed them their first home loss of the season to the tune of 42-19.

Deebo scored three touchdowns in the win over the Eagles. One touchdown came on the ground and the other two came off passes from Purdy. Samuel did a lot of running after those catches, scorching the field en route to the end zone.
