Former U.S. President Donald Trump received some unfortunate news this weekend after one of his cherished golf courses fell victim to vandalism.

Trump owns several golf courses across the country, but his Turnberry course in Scotland stands out as one of the most prestigious, having hosted multiple Open Championships over the years. However, this week, it became the target of vandalism.

Over the weekend, pro-Palestine protesters defaced the course, splattering red paint across the clubhouse, spraying graffiti throughout the grounds, and even damaging several putting greens.

The activist group Palestine Action has claimed responsibility for the incident, citing Trump’s recent remarks about the Gaza Strip. Trump recently suggested that the U.S. could take control of the territory and redevelop it with resorts.

This news is particularly significant given Trump’s past statements about Turnberry being one of his three favorite courses.

“I’ve no interest in taking on any other projects at the moment because I just can’t top the threesome of Turnberry, Doonbeg and Aberdeen. Realistically I just can’t see that happening: where am I going to find 500 acres on the Atlantic, where are you going to find another Turnberry? Turnberry is one of the great places of the world. It’s just about everybody’s favorite course. So where are you going to find places like this?” Trump said in the past.

“We have Aberdeen, Turnberry, and Doonbeg, I call it the Trump Triangle. They’re all extra special though having said that if I can find somewhere else unique I’d be interested. But at the moment I have no interest and I don’t think there is anywhere around.”

Obviously, this led to a lot of reactions on social media.

“Lock up whoever did this!!” one person wrote on X.

“We live in a world of delinquents and it’s only getting worse. I would make the culprits scrub the paint off with a toothbrush, even if it took them 10 years to do it,” someone else added.

“It’d be a shame if the organizers’ own homes befell some unpleasantness,” another person added.

“Find them and prosecute them to the max! Enough with the kid gloves,” someone else said.

“Idiots who do this should be found, prosecuted and jailed,” another person wrote.

“So blatant vandalism of private property is the answer? Good to know!” someone else commented.

As a result of the vandalism, the course was forced to shut down while crews worked to address the damage.
