The Atlanta Falcons have had an inconsistent 2023 season. While the team is still technically in the playoff race thanks to their lowly division, some might wonder what the future of this team is. Specifically, what is head coach Arthur Smith’s future with the team?
According to a report emerging Wednesday, it doesn’t appear that anything will prevent Smith from keeping his job.
Kevin Knight of The Falcoholic posted news off the back of ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler on Wednesday.
“As expected and all but confirmed by @JFowlerESPN’s reporting, #Falcons head coach Arthur Smith’s job is safe heading into 2024 ‘barring a late-season collapse,'” Knight said. Knight posted the news on X, the website formerly known as Twitter.

Smith took over as the Falcons’ head coach before the 2021 season. Before that, he spent ten seasons with the Tennessee Titans, holding various positions on the coaching staff. The Falcons have gone 20-26 since Smith took over as the team’s head coach. They haven’t yet made the postseason, and while there have been advances in some areas on the field, it just hasn’t been a satisfying project overall. The Falcons whiffed on Kyle Pitts, who the team doesn’t utilize particularly well. Their quarterback situation is underwhelming, at best.
But, needless to say, ownership is exuding patience with Smith if they’re unwilling to dump him yet.
