The Florida State Seminoles might have missed out on the College Football Playoff. But lately, FSU has been flipping commits from the Alabama Crimson Tide in great deals. That trend continued on Tuesday with the news of yet another flip from Tuscaloosa to Tallahassee.
EDGE Javion Hilson, a highly-touted defensive end recruit in the Class of 2025, originally committed to Nick Saban and the Tide. But after Saban’s retirement, some of Alabama’s recruits are starting to look elsewhere. That includes Hilson, who’ll now play for the Seminoles when he arrives in 2025.
Hayes Fawcett of On3 reported the news of the massive flip.
“Elite 2025 EDGE Javion Hilson tells me he has Flipped from Alabama to Florida State!” Fawcett said. Fawcett reported the news on X, the website formerly known as Twitter.

Hilson ranks second among all EDGE players in the Class of 2025. Only Ari Watford, a 6-5, 230 lbs. EDGE out of Norfolk ranks higher than Hilson (21st overall). So it’s safe to say that he’s an elite recruit. On3 lists him as a four-star recruit and the 30th overall recruit in the 2025 class.
FSU is building a great 2025 class under head coach Mike Norvell. Recently, Norvell seemingly declined to take the Alabama job and signed a massive extension with Florida State instead. So Norvell will be around Tallahassee for a while, and at this rate, it looks like they’re primed for more future success.
