The New York Yankees went down to Baltimore to conclude their first month of the season. Four games later, the Orioles took it right to the Bronx Bombers, who were left reeling on Thursday.
Second baseman Gleyber Torres summed things up after the 7-2 defeat the Yankees took on the chin to the O’s at Camden Yards.

Any breakdown looking into the series would probably agree with that assessment. The Orioles won the series 3 games to 1, only conceding Wednesday night 2-0. Baltimore defeated New York 2-0, 4-2, and then finally 7-2 on Thursday. The Yankees, who scored 30 runs in one weekend against the Brewers, only plated six runs in four games. Those numbers simply won’t play in an ultra-competitive division with a team like the O’s, who look the part right now.
Baltimore won the American League East last year and looks primed to contend again this season. The Yankees got off to a hot start with no Gerrit Cole and with Aaron Judge playing like a non-factor offensively. They may have to reach back into another gear if they want to continue contending. If nothing else, a counterpunch the next time the teams face off might be necessary.
