Cleveland Guardians superstar Jose Ramirez has hit plenty of home runs in his career. The one he hit on Saturday wild for several reasons.
Ramirez battled and battled with Minnesota Twins pitcher Bailey Ober Saturday. The Twins right-hander couldn’t figure out a way to get Ramirez, a switch hitter hitting lefty, to swing and miss. He just kept fouling off… and off…
And off… and off… until the twelfth pitch of the at-bat. That’s when Ramirez went lift-off.

Ramirez turned a 12-pitch at-bat into a celebration with one swing! And with that swing came a dash of history.
Sarah Langs noted that Ramirez is no stranger to this. This, in fact, was the third time this season that Ramirez has launched a home run during a plate appearance that went 10+ pitches. “That’s tied for the most such HR in a season since pitch counts tracked,” Langs noted, coupling Ramirez only with Paul Goldschmidt, who achieved the feat in 2013.
José Ramírez has THREE HR this year in 10+ pitch PAs, tied for the most such HR in a season since pitch counts tracked (1988), with:

It’s really difficult to get Jose Ramirez out. It’s probably even worse when you realize he’s pretty likely to crush you anyway.
