College football quarterback Jaden Rashada is involved in a massive lawsuit that could have serious ramifications on the sport. Rashada, now at Georgia, is suing the University of Florida after NIL money worth up to $14 million that was promised was never received. ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit is paying close attention to this situation and discussed the potential consequences this week.
Herbstreit joined The Pat McAFee Show to discuss the developing and fascinating situation. Herbstreit said that the game could significantly change if Rashada wins the lawsuit. He first likened it to the situation around Quinn Ewers, who fled Ohio State for Texas.
“When Quinn Ewers left Ohio State, I think a lot of us thought, well, I guess he didn’t honor his commitment, so he didn’t get his money,” he said via On3.com. “I have no idea that these contracts are signed, if they’re promises. I really never know if the player is at fault or the university.”

Herbstreit continued. “The fact that this player, I don’t know the details of this player with Jaden Rashada and waht’s going on there. If he wins, it will open up the floodgates for sure,” he said.
Herbstreit suggested that other players will eventually do the same thing. He said he was “floored” that anyone offered a high school quarterback “$13.8 million without even, what the hell is happening to college football?”
Herbstreit often finds himself at the center of college football conversations. That surely will continue in this situation.
