The WNBA is seeing a lot of growth and increase in attention and significance this year. The rise in women’s basketball coinciding with superstars like Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese emerging, among others, has led to a lot of good. But, like with anything, there are some downsides appearing.
Namely, the discourse, which has reached exhausting levels over the past few days. It, however, doesn’t appear to be slowing down anytime soon. There’s a lot of merit to some of the thoughts out there, but not all of them.
WNBA star Natasha Cloud, a guard for the Phoenix Mercury, jumped on X on Friday to set the record straight. Cloud took aim at male detractors or men, in general, who have commented on the league over the past few weeks and months. It’s safe to say that Cloud hasn’t bought what a lot are selling.
“I’m tired of hearing men talk about our league knowing nothing about our history,” Cloud said. “Invest or stfu. Respectfully.”

Cloud continued with another post on X. “Y’all want us to be pitted against each other so bad,” she said.

With the discourse, like the reach of the WNBA widening, you can probably expect it to continue. You just wonder when everything will just reset itself.
