The Miami Hurricanes were once one of college football’s premier programs. However, an assortment of changes and shifts over the last 20 years have led to the program falling out of favor. Miami has struggled over the past few years despite a persistent array of hype around the program. When they hired Mario Cristobal, they expected to win and win big. Even amid much success on the recruiting trail, Cristobal has yet to deliver on that.
The ‘Canes, once again, will enter another season with a lot of talent. Miami’s 2024 recruiting class ranks as one of the best in the nation. It’s been about putting it together on the field, though, and Miami fans have been displeased more often than not. Fox Sports’ Joel Klatt is still believing, though.
Klatt said this week that he thinks Miami is a prime candidate for a bounce-back season.
“7-6 a year ago, and yet here comes Cam Ward, and they come in, and they’ve recruited at a very high level. So that makes me want to go to the schedule,” Klatt said on The Joel Klatt Showvia On3. “Ok, what’s their schedule look like? Manageable. Manageable. They could be 7-0 when they face FSU. In fact, likelihood they’re 7-0.”
Miami will have to travel to rival Florida in Week 1, but their schedule is very favorable. They have home games against Florida A&M, Ball State, and VaTech ahead of the FSU game and will travel to South Florida and California. That’s a favorable look for the team.
Whether or not they get there is yet to be seen. But Klatt is a believer in the ‘Canes this year.
