The World Series is underway with the Los Angeles Dodgers hosting the New York Yankees in Game 1 Friday.
Since it’s a powerhouse matchup, both teams are doing everything they can to edge out their opponents. Mookie Betts detailed his routine on MLB Network and he used the assistance of his new teammate, Yoshinobu Yamamoto.
“I’ve actually been doing some Japanese yoga-type stuff — that’s like my warmup,” Betts said Friday. “Not from Shohei, from Yoshi.”
Obviously, whatever the starting pitcher is doing, it’s working. So you might as well follow his lead.
“I figured if Yoshi is 5’9″ and he can throw 100, I’m going to try it as well,” Betts said.

Japanese yoga just sounds like a more enhanced version of yoga. “It is a study of the principles of nature and how they can be refined to help us realize the truths of nature and our full potentials.”
Sounds lovely.
Betts added that despite the extra rest you get heading into the World Series, it can often throw off the routine after playing consistently for seven or eight months. The eight-time All-Star said he does the typical batting practice and defensive drills to not get away from what he usually does.
And even admitted he oftentimes needs a break from the kids.
