plane crash

Tragedy struck the United States earlier this year when a military helicopter struck an airplane in the skies of Washington D.C. There were no survivors of the fatal accident, in which the plane was carrying members of the United States ice skating program.

Now, tragedy has struck again in what is becoming an increasingly concerning number of aircraft-related accidents, as another athlete has passed away in a plane crash, along with six others.

“Karenna Groff, a former MIT soccer player named the 2022 NCAA woman of the year, died Saturday along with six other people including members of her family in a plane crash in upstate New York,” reported ESPN on Monday.

Fans reacted to the tragic news on social media.

“Incredibly heartbreaking news. May Allah grant peace to all the souls lost and strength to their families during this difficult time,” one person wrote on Twitter.

“That’s such a heartbreaking loss. She seemed like a shining star with so much ahead of her,” someone else added.

“My heart goes out to her family. She was an awesome player,” added another person.

Hopefully, Groff’s family is given the time and space she needs to heal, and the government starts taking airplane safety seriously again.
