The Chicago Bears drafted Caleb Williams first overall in this year’s NFL Draft. The quarterback-starved Windy City has been waiting on quality quarterback play since… well, basically since the franchise began.

Bears fans have been in persistent delight since the team drafted Williams. They also went the extra route of getting Washington wide receiver Rome Odunze and traded for Chargers star Keenan Allen to join the coveted DJ Moore. It’s quite an impressive receiving corp, to say the very least. And it’s getting noticed.

So much so that, on Thursday, Fox’s Nick Wright emerged with a heck of a bold prediction. Wright thinks the Bears not only could contend for the playoffs, but maybe even the Super Bowl

Wright explained that the Bears’ schedule provides an opportunity to make this bold prediction come true.

“I think there’s a 7-2 start… is absolutely on the board,” Wright said. “Which is why, and this is my… bold prediction. Forget guaranteeing the playoffs. I’m flirting with the idea… I think Caleb could lead the Bears to the Super Bowl in his rookie season.”

Wright said that rookie QBs have stepped into teams in the past and have brought their teams to the playoffs. Ben Roethlisberger, C.J. Stroud, Dan Marino, among many others were floated around.

“The idea that … rookie quarterbacks don’t ever step in and have success is belied by history. And this Bears team is, I think, a playoff team with slightly below average quarterback play. They were a seven-win team last year, and they added Odunze, and they added Keenan Allen. So in that weak NFC, with that type of momentum, not having to play any divisional games until the last 1/3rd of his season, when he’s more seasoned, I could see the Bears shocking everyone but me.”

That’s quite the bold prediction, so we’ll see how it all shakes out.
