The status of Ohio State Buckeyes star Emeka Egbuka may be in the air heading into a big-time game this weekend. Ohio State travels to Madison to play the Wisconsin Badgers on Saturday night, and the third-ranked Buckeyes could be without Egbuka.

ESPN’s Pete Thamel updated on Egbuka and his status for the game against the Badgers. On Saturday morning, he posted on X, formerly known as Twitter:

“Sources: Ohio State wide receiver Emeka Egbuka is questionable for the game at Wisconsin on Saturday. He warmed up against Penn State last week and was considered available but ultimately didn’t get into the game with a lower-body injury.”

Egbuka hasn’t seen extended play since October 7, when the Buckeyes defeated the Maryland Terrapins. Prior to that, Egbuka starred against Notre Dame and Youngstown State, but hadn’t really gotten it going otherwise. He scored two touchdowns against Western Kentucky but only has three touchdowns on the year. He’s not healthy, so that may certainly be a factor.

Last season, Egbuka played well for the Buckeyes. The then-sophomore Ohio STate receiver recorded 74 receptions, 1,151 yards, and 10 receiving touchdowns. His presence in the lineup next to Marvin Harrison Jr. is noteworthy and without him, Ohio State will continue to have to lean on someone else if he can’t make the game. Cade Stover will likely be that guy. But still, for Ohio State, you hope that Egbuka can find his way into the lineup again soon.
