The Pittsburgh Pirates put Major League Baseball on notice. Paul Skenes is coming, and very soon.

On Wednesday afternoon, the Pirates stirred the MLB world up with an epic announcement. Skenes, a former top overall MLB Draft pick out of LSU, will join the Pirates on May 11, 2024.

How did the Pirates create all this attention? It wasn’t just with an ordinary announcement. No, instead, the Buccos played this one differently. The team dropped an epic video, featuring Skenes, hyping up his looming MLB debut.

“PS… see you soon,” the team cheekily posted.

The video featured audio of Skenes’ selection in the MLB Draft and several MLB Network voices, and the voice of scouts who predicted Skenes could climb the ladder quickly. Climb the ladder Skenes did. As if the added hype wasn’t enough, the video also featured words from Skenes that will no doubt hype Pirates fans up.

It’s quite the ascent for Skenes, who the Pirates drafted just last year. But his rapid ascent through the Minor League ranks happened the way some thought it would. Now, we wait.

The MLB world was buzzing over the news that Paul Skenes got the call.
