The Detroit Pistons made a major move on Friday, shaking up their front office. Pistons general manager Troy Weaver is out after several disappointing seasons.
Senior reporter James L. Edwards III of The Athletic reported the news of the shakeup in the Detroit front office on Friday afternoon.

Weaver joined the Pistons as their general manager in 2020. The Pistons have gone 74-244 since then. The team has routinely trotted out poor rosters with no conviction, leading to a lot of resentment and apathy in the Motor City. Detroit clearly needs a jolt, so they are hoping this move puts them on something resembling an “up and up.”
Detroit has a long climb back to relevancy. The Pistons were one of the top franchises in the NBA in the early 2000s. They boasted an NBA Finals win in 2004 and went to the Eastern Conference Finals every year from 2003-2008. Detroit’s made the playoffs since then, but they have gone in and out quietly.
