The Pop-Tarts Bowl made a very important announcement on Monday afternoon.
This year’s Pop-Tarts Bowl will feature the first-ever edible mascot. Yes, you read that correctly.
“The winning team of the upcoming Pop-Tarts Bowl will go home with far more than just bragging rights and a Championship Trophy,” the bowl announced in a press release. “They can also expect a belly full of the first-ever Edible Mascot. Because when Pop-Tarts tackles College Football, no rituals are safe,” they hilariously warned.
The winning team will appear to be able to hoist up and eat an oversized Pop-Tart after the trophy presentation.

Among the absurdities we’ve seen in college football, this is certainly one of them. But it’s charming, so there’s no complaints on this end. Bowl game season should be about fun, even through the exhibition nature, there’s always been plenty to take from bowl season.
If an edible mascot in the Pop-Tarts Bowl is the next step there? So be it.
The only thing to wonder now? What flavor of Pop-Tart will it be? Will they opt for a more traditional kind? Will it be S’mores-flavored? There are tons of possibilities here. We will anxiously await the answers on December 28, when the game will take place.
