Rams rookie wide receiver Puka Nacua Gary A. Vasquez-USA TODAY Sports

Puka Nacua basically came out of nowhere, an the Los Angeles Rams certainly benefited strongly.

Nacua, who went in the fifth round of the 2023 NFL Draft to the Rams, broke out in an immense way last year. Matthew Stafford found himself a new and exciting target in the former Washington and BYU wide receiver.

All Nacua did was set new rookie records for wide receivers in completions (105) and receiving yards (1,486). Nacua also helped the Rams along the way as the team returned to the NFL Playoffs before they were eventually bounced by the Detroit Lions.

As far as what he has in store for an encore? Nacua is keeping things simple.

“No, not really” Nacua responded to a question on if he feels any pressure to replicate his 2023 successes, via NFL.com. “Every week presented a different challenge and who we were playing against and also just trying to make sure I could prepare myself the best way to be able to be there on Sunday and perform my best.”

Nacua continued. “I think coming into this year, I think it definitely presents a challenge of just trying to reset the standard.”

That type of response was measured enough to believe that he won’t let the hype get up to his head. We’ll see what he has in store for us for his encore performance in 2024.
