There are lots of factors that go into crafting the NFL schedule. Among them this year, apparently, was Taylor Swift.

The pop music icon made headlines throughout the NFL season in 2023 after she started dating Kansas City Chiefs star tight end Travis Kelce. Kelce and Swift became the talk of the town afterwards, only furthered after the Chiefs won the Super Bowl last February.

Heading into 2024, Kelce and Swift are still going strong. While she’s on her Eras Tour across the globe, it appears that the NFL might have done her a solid.

On Up & Adams this week, Kay Adams welcomed NFL’s Director of Broadcasting, Charlotte Carey. On Wednesday, the league released the 2024 schedule to fanfare from everywhere. So it only made sense to bring Carey on the show. While she and Adams discussed this year’s schedule, Carey alluded to Taylor being accounted for while making this year’s schedule.

“A little theory going around about the Chiefs schedule. Defending champs, they play in Buffalo on November 17th, same weekend that Taylor Swift is performing in nearby Toronto. Some fans think this was intentional, are you saying it was a coincidence?” Adams asked Carey.

“I’ll let you decide, Kay,” Carey replied. Adams referenced that before, it’d been alluded that scheduling around concerts and tours is a factor in NFL scheduling. Carey then explained that, in fact, they’ve been able to work in sync and around musical acts.

“Taylor’s definitely a factor this year also,” Carey said. So, there you have it.
