New Orleans Saints quarterback Tyler Shough had an impressive rookie campaign in 2025, bringing home the Pepsi Zero Sugar NFL Rookie of the Year after a strong second half of the season.

“I am truly humbled and honored to be chosen for this award,” Shough said after winning . “Coming in as a rookie, my goal was to do anything I could to contribute to our team’s success. Whatever I was asked to do, I just wanted to help the team.

“This wouldn’t be possible without all of my teammates and coaches giving everything they had each and every week to help us win. The award is truly a reflection of all of their hard work. I also want to say thank you to our amazing fans. Your unbelievable passion for the Saints and the city of New Orleans inspires all of us! I can’t wait to see where we go from here!”

Now, Shough is learning that old quotes can be rediscovered when you’re in the spotlight. In 2025, the quarterback proudly affirmed his support for Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear, per Daily Mail.

“Mr Beshear, I hope you become president one day, man. We will be voting for you,” Shough said. “I appreciate the opportunity and maybe at that point I’ll be in your cabinet for sports advisor or something.”

If Shough continues to ascend, there’s no reason he can’t win his first NFC South title in a division that figures to be wide open next season.
