"Big Sexy" Bartolo Colon the New York Mets the Los Angeles Dodgers at Dodger Stadium on May 12, 2016 in Los Angeles, California.

When a player gets a clever or unique nickname, why not take the opportunity to trademark it for yourself? And when people are already using the nickname and making money off of it, why not get your finger into that pie?  That’s exactly the line of thinking that New York Mets pitcher “Big Sexy” Bartolo Colon has.

It was recently found that the veteran pitcher has trademarked his nickname “big sexy.” The news of the latest trademark was first reported by ESPN’s Darren Rovell, who also states that Colon plans to release an apparel line of his popular nickname.

Colon’s nickname, which was partially born due to his 5’11, 285-pound frame, has been well known and adored by players and media alike. Colon filed for the trademark through Wasserman, the agency that represents him.

The trademark filing was likely brought upon by this (now unavailable) “big sexy” t-shirt released by Barstool Sports.

So now for fans that wanna feel the pride of “big and sexy” like Colon, there is apparel that should be just right for you.

Somewhere in this country, “Big Sexy” Kevin Nash is crying a solitary tear.
