The New Yorks Mets Single-A affiliate, the Columbia Fireflies, formerly known as the Savannah Sand Gnats, have unveiled glow-in-the-dark ballcaps for their inaugural season.

Minor League Baseball teams have been known for their outlandish jerseys, whether they are permanent or not, but to see a glow-in-the-dark aspect to any uniform seems to be a new aspect to the ever-changing ensembles.

The jerseys for the Fireflies include home whites, with an all-blue cap, with the road uniforms being a traditional gray vest, with a blue undershirt, including a blue cap with a gray bill. Those pair of uniforms are pretty much on par with the rest of the uniforms in the baseball world, both major and minor league.

Some will be fans of the alternate uniforms more than others, with a vibrant neon green that stands out like a sore thumb, with a blue cap and the team’s secondary logo. If the Seattle Seahawks had baseball uniforms, these might be them.

There will be no mistaking this Minor League Baseball team in their new home of Columbia, South Carolina. You could say that they have a bright future in Columbia, and will undoubtedly light up the diamond.
