Former WWE champion CM Punk may have an opponent for his first UFC fight – though that opponent first needs one more win in order to face the ex-wrestling star.

UFC president Dana White appeared on Off the Record with Michael Landsberg this Wednesday, and stated that Mickey Gall, a 1-0 prospect, would get the chance to face Punk in his first UFC fight…but only if he’s able to defeat Michael Jackson at UFC 196 on February 6th.

“I’m bringing Mickey Gall in, and he’s going to fight a kid named Michael Jackson,” White said. “They’re going to fight on the prelims, on February 6th on Fight Pass, and if he wins that fight, Mickey Gall will fight CM Punk. And CM Punk will be there at the fight to watch.”

But it’s not a two-way street – if Jackson beats Gall, White said he won’t be getting the fight with Punk, and we’ll be right back to square one.

Gall called out Punk in November after winning his MMA debut fight. White was in attendance at the event filming an episode of his YouTube series Lookin’ for a Fight, and that was apparently enough to convince him that Gall could be the guy that would match up with Punk in his debut.

The 23-year old Gall had some strong words for Punk in an interview with MMA Fighting.

“Honestly, man, I think that guy’s used to going into a ring and whispering to his guy, ‘Hey, let’s do a clothesline. Hey, let’s practice jumping off the ropes and this and that,” Gall said. “I think when he gets in there and he has me coming at him looking to kill him, I don’t think he’ll be able to handle it. He’s a professional wrestler, and he’s great at that. He’s made himself a millionaire doing that. But now he’s stepping into a different world, and I think he’d be in a lot of trouble.”

This could be the opportunity of Gall’s life – he just needs one more win. The date of Punk’s debut fight hasn’t been announced, but it’s assumed that it will take place at UFC 200 on July 9th in Las Vegas.
