The Golden State Warriors tied the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls’ NBA record of 72 regular-season wins, and got their first win in San Antonio since 1997, with a 92-86 victory over the Spurs on Sunday night at AT&T Center.
Steph Curry (wow, crazy!) led the way with 37 points on 13-of-22 shooting from the floor. This and-one with the left hand in the third quarter was particularly impressive from Steph:
Steph also made a shot from past half-court, because of course he did. But, it was barely after the third-quarter buzzer, so it didn’t count. Still, it’s incredible:
For the Spurs, the loss snaps their streak of 48 straight regular-season wins at home, as well as a 39-game streak to “begin” the season (which is about to end). It also ends a 33-game home winning streak for San Antonio against the Warriors, going back to 1997.

But back to focusing on the Warriors, as they’re of course the main story here. Along with tying the Bulls’ 72 wins in a season, they broke that Bulls team’s record of road wins in a season:

The Warriors are also the first team in NBA history to not lose consecutive games in the regular season:

And then there’s this stat… sorry Philly:
The Warriors have 72 wins this season. The 76ers have 72 wins since November 30, 2012.

So, the Warriors (72-9) will go for the record of 73 wins on Wednesday night against the Memphis Grizzlies at Oracle Arena. Golden State only beat the Grizzlies by one point (100-99) on Saturday, but Memphis has won just one of their last nine games, and we should expect the Warriors to come out more focused for this one. And we know Oracle will be rockin’.
