The entire city of Cleveland is soaking in the thrill of a long-awaited championship celebration thanks to the Cavaliers and LeBron James storming back against the Golden State Warriors, but the Republicans are coming soon and are already looking to redesign the city to their liking for the upcoming Republican National Convention. Among the things on the to-do list for the GOP? Tear down LeBron James.

We don’t mean tear down James the way a certain ex-ESPN employee might for the sake of trolling. In this case, the GOP has plans to take down a massive sign of James honoring the recent championship. The sign, hanging outside the Sherwin Williams headquarters across from Quicken Loans Arena, has been a symbol of the rebirth of the Cavaliers organization with LeBron’s homecoming journey, but it will not fit the GOP imagery for the convention. So it’s coming down, temporarily.

Taking its place will be a banner reading “This land is our land,” in true patriotic flair. When one of the major political parties sets up shop in your city, you do as they ask. That’s how it works. SO it seems the only person capable of bringing LeBron James down is… Donald Trump?

The Republican National Convention is scheduled to begin on July 18. For now, there are no similar potential conflicts with the Democratic convention, which will be held in Philadelphia. The 76ers might want to wait to put up anything about Ben Simmons, though.
