The Miami Heat and forward Chris Bosh have had public disagreements recently about whether the All-Star should play again this season and now a decision has been made. The Heat announced on Wednesday that Bosh will not play again for the remained of the 2016 playoffs.
“The Miami Heat and Chris Bosh announce that Chris will not be playing in the remainder of the 2016 NBA Playoffs. The Heat, Chris, the doctors and medical team have been working together throughout this process and will continue to do so to return Chris to playing basketball as soon as possible.”
It’s a tough way to end Bosh’s season. The 32-year-old has been out since February with blood clot issues. It appeared he thought he was ready to return. His wife Adrienne campaigned on social media to get Bosh back to action, using the hashtag #BringBackBosh. Bosh sent out a Snapchat video of him playing basketball with the caption “still got it.” The situation got messy as the NBPA sent out a statement asking to meet with the organization, hoping to resolve the disagreement.
The Heat obviously want Bosh back at full strength and don’t want to risk his long-term health in order to get him into action now. It’s the right call. Given the seriousness of Bosh’s injury, you simply can’t risk him getting hurt again. Missing the rest of the playoffs is a tough pill to swallow for both Bosh and the Heat, but it’s a necessary course of action. Hopefully, Bosh can return next season.
