The basketball world took a collective gasp when Stephen Curry was forced to leave Golden State’s 121-94 Game 4 victory with a knee injury.

The reigning MVP scarily ended up slipping on a wet spot on the floor and didn’t return to action.

Warriors forward Draymond Green told ESPN Radio postgame that Curry was so upset, he was crying in the huddle when he was told he wasn’t allowed back in the game.

“I actually told the guys in the locker room before that, like, he’s done. It just didn’t look well,” Green told ESPN radio.

Speaking after the game, head coach Steve Kerr told reporters Curry was upset because he wanted to continue playing.

“He came out, was sitting on the bench with about three minutes to go and he was kind of gathering his thoughts,” Kerr Said. “We talked with the doctors about seeing how he felt, trying it out with a little warmup session. He went out there, tried to move on it, and it wasn’t right. He still wanted to play. We wouldn’t let him. You saw, I’m sure, he was very, very upset. I feel awful for him.”

Curry didn’t mince words after the game, simplifying the injury to Rob Kroichick of the San Francisco Chronicle.

Curry is a competitor and to be pulled out of a playoff game due to injury must be devastating, even if it was the right call by the Warriors’ medical staff. The injury is a tough blow for Curry, who was forced to miss the last two games of the series following an ankle injury.

Curry’s full injury status is unknown, but Kerr said he’s set to have an MRI on his knee on Monday. The Warriors will try to close off the Rockets on Wednesday, potentially without Curry.
