On Sunday afternoon, Twitter caught fire when the news broke that Ole Miss star defensive lineman Robert Nkemdiche was injured after falling from a fourth floor window. Perhaps more shocking was the report of Nkemdiche’s injuries – simply listed as “multiple cuts”. After falling from a fourth floor window? Multiple cuts? And nothing more?

A later report from Zack Klein of WSB-TV in Atlanta clarified the incident, revealing the initial “fourth floor window” report was misleading, and that Nkemdiche really only fell roughly 15 feet.

At approximately 2318 hours, Zone Two units responded to a person injured call where a male had fallen from a hotel room window. Upon arrival, the victim was conscious and breathing. He was transported to Grady Memorial and was in stable condition. Inside the hotel room, units located a small amount of suspected marijuana. The window was also broken out. It appears that the victim broke the window and then walked approximately 15 feet and climbed over a wall and fell approximately 15 feet. GI Squad and the Narcotics Unit responded to the scene along with the Crime Scene Unit.

On Sunday, Nkemdiche was named a second-team AP All-American following a season in which he recorded 26 total tackles, seven for a loss, and three sacks in ten games for the Rebels. He also scored two touchdowns for Ole Miss on offense. ESPN’s Mel Kiper has ranked Nkemdiche fifth on his latest Big Board.

The 12th-ranked Rebels conclude their season by facing off with #16 Oklahoma State in the Sugar Bowl at 8:30 PM on New Year’s Day. Nkemdiche’s status for the game is still unknown.
