Peyton Manning is widely expected to announce his retirement from professional football on Monday. Confirmation of that decision continues to poor in, and Manning took to text message to inform each of his Denver Broncos teammates of said decision, per a Pro Football Talk report.
According to the report, Manning took the time to individual text his teammates on the Broncos of his decision late last night. The report also indicates Manning’s teammates managed to keep those texts to themselves until word of Manning’s decision was made public how he wanted it to be made public.
The fact that Manning took the time to not just send a mass text to his teammates, but individual text them before leaking any decision out to the public speaks volumes of his feelings towards his fellow professional football players. Same for the fact that none of the teammates went ahead and leaked the news on their own.
Some speculated Manning would likely sign a one-day contract with the Indianapolis Colts and retire that way. However, it is pretty clear that is not happening:
I'm told that it is highly unlikely Peyton Manning will sign a one-day contract with the #Colts. Look for him to retire with the #Broncos.
