With the NFL Draft coming up in just a few short weeks, now is the time to not listen to much coming out of agents, GM’s and general NFL-types’ mouthes. Separating the posturing from the real information isn’t an easy task.

That’s especially the case in an NFL draft year that doesn’t have a clear-cut No. 1 player and a team at the top with a clear-cut need to match that player. So, with the Tennessee Titans not needing a quarterback and there not really being a clear cut choice for the team rumors of trading the pick have been around for some time.

However, according to a report from Tony Pauline of Draft Insider, there are at least four teams seriously considering the top spot. Seriously enough to put in calls to Titans GM Jon Robinson.

The team most linked with a move to the No. 1 overall pick is the Dallas Cowboys, who apparently have their eye on Florida State defensive back Jalen Ramsey. He’s also a likely selection for the Titans, who are looking for difference makers on both sides of the football.

However, our Eric Galko believes if the Titans keep their pick the likely selection would be Ole Miss offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil.

Pauline also indicates that the Philadelphia Eagles, San Francisco 49ers and New York Jets have also all put in calls about the No. 1 pick. The Jets seem to be the odd team in this group, as jumping up to No. 1 from No. 20 overall is such a huge leap and most believe they don’t have the goods to make a deal happen.

Given the Titans have so many needs, making a move and picking up picks along the way seems like a perfect fit for the organization looking to build around budding star Marcus Mariota at quarterback.

The other three teams involved in this latest report make plenty of sense, as they have picks ranging from No. 4 to No. 8 overall and can offer plenty else to sweeten any potential deal.

What isn’t clear is who would be the target from the Eagles and 49ers. A quarterback isn’t out of the realm of possibility, especially with the Cleveland Browns sitting at No. 2 and a likely landing spot for a quarterback as well.

However, with this being the season of misinformation, it could be the Titans doing all the talking here in the hopes of driving up the price of their No. 1 pick heading in to April 28.

Welcome to the craziest of seasons in the world of the NFL
