Surely it’s been a habit of his for a couple of decades, but it perhaps wasn’t expected this year. Tom Coughlin, who no longer coaches the New York Giants, is in Indianapolis for the NFL Combine.
NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport reported that Coughlin was on his way to Indy with Ben McAdoo. Coughlin is expected to help with the league’s Madden Committee, which consists of former coaches that help the competition committee.

It’s no surprise to see Coughlin around NFL events, as it’s been well reported that he hasn’t adapted well to life outside of football. When you’ve been doing something for your entire life, it’s somewhat expected.
“It’s a very difficult thing, I don’t care who you are, or how long you’ve been doing it. I’ve been doing it a long time, so you get yourself into the rhythm,” Coughlin said, via NJ.com. “Your whole life, the calendar of your life is based on football, about the seasons, whether it’s in-season or out of season. You have a schedule that you follow. So there’s some adjusting for me to make.”
The Giants offered Coughlin another job within the organization after his departure, but Coughlin wasn’t interested in taking up the venture.
Despite his age, Coughlin isn’t quite ready to accept retirement. Don’t be surprised if you hear his name come up as a head coaching candidate in the 2017 offseason.
