The hit HBO series Game of Thrones is almost back, and today a new trailer dropped for the hugely popular fantasy series. Spoilers below.
The upcoming season looks as chaotic as ever.
Jon Snow’s death was a big surprise during the season five finale and his fate remains unknown. We’re shown his dead body, which may be resurrected given Melisandre’s magical presence at The Wall.
After Cersei’s humiliation, Jamie Lannister is out for blood.
“You’d spill blood in this holy place?”
“The gods wouldn’t mind, they spilled more blood than the rest of us combined”
A blinded Arya continues her training at the House of Black and White.
“The girl has been given a second chance, there will not be a third.”
The trailer would not be complete without the pending doom of White Walkers, who proved to be an almost unstoppable force in season five.
“There’s no hiding from this, we have to fight.”
Cersei wants an apprehensive King Tommen Baratheon to express his inner Lannister.
“Stand at the head of our army where you belong. Show them what Lannister’s are.”
While battles are fought across Westeros, “the real war is between the living and the dead.”
“Make no mistake, the dead are coming.”
Tyrion offers up some sage advice, telling Missandei “dragons do not do well in captivity.” “How do you know this?”
“How do you know this?”
“That’s what I do, I drink and I know things.”
The trailer ends with a badass shot of Tyrion visiting one of Daenerys’ locked-up dragons, who greets him with a breath of fire.
The trailer was a perfect tease for the season to come. The season looks to be actioned-packed with plenty of revenge plots, White Walker battles and dragons. It’s hard to predict where the season will go considering the show has caught up to the books, but if this trailer is any indication, I’d say it’s going to be one epic season.
Game of Thrones returns April 24th on HBO.
