Sweden and Ireland fans singing ABBA

Here’s some much-needed friendliness among fans at Euro 2016.

Fans of both Sweden and Ireland decided to have some fun at the tournament and took to the streets to sing a song in harmony together before the two countries faced off on the pitch Monday. Their uniting tune? Swedish pop group ABBA’s 1976 hit ‘Dancing Queen.’

Check out the happy fans wearing their full country gear belt out the tune together. It’s joyous.

Sure, the fans might be a little liquored up, but it’s great to see fans getting along and not being rowdy with one another because there countries allegiances.

It’s quite the stark contrast from when England and Russian fans in the hundreds fought in Marseille after a 1-1 draw. The blame for the riot is reportedly being placed on 150 Russian hooligans who were apparently trained to fight. Both teams face possible disqualification from the tournament for the fans actions. It was one of the ugliest moments in the history of the tourney.

So to go from the massive fight to fans singing ABBA in the streets is a welcome sight. Passionate soccer fans are never going to fully get along, but it’s nice to see fans from both Sweden and Ireland sing in celebration of the tournament and their countries, while actually getting along. More of this at Euro 2016, please.

Ireland and Sweden ended up drawing 1-1 in the match at Stade de France.
