John Morrison

John Morrison may have been in a ring Saturday night, but he wasn’t wrestling. Instead, the longtime WWE Superstar put on a pair of boxing gloves and put on a show.

In his debut match, John Hennigan (Morrison’s real name) knocked out prominent YouTuber Harley Morenstein in the third round at Creator Clash 2 in Tampa, Florida.

Morenstein (1-0) may have had six inches and nearly 30 pounds on Hennigan, but Hennigan overcame that to defeat the host of Epic Meal Time.

Hennigan brought along a sizable entourage, with many coming from the pro wrestling world. Along with his wife, All Elite Wrestling’s Taya Valkyrie, notable people joining Hennigan included WWE Hall of Famer “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan, WWE’s LA Knight, Scarlett Bordeaux, Karrion Kross and Vic Joseph, AEW’s Jake Hager, and former UFC Heavyweight Champion/pro wrestler Josh Barnett, who was Hennigan’s trainer.

After the match, Hennigan took the opportunity to call out KSI, who is Logan Paul’s business partner for their Prime energy drink and recently was put through a table while dressed as a bottle of Prime at WrestleMania.

Hennigan began with WWE in 2002 when he won Tough Enough. From there, he had a nine-year run with WWE before leaving the company in 2012. He tried his hand in the independent circuit, as well as appearing on a season of Survivor. Hennigan came back to WWE for a three-year run that was cut short due to COVID-related budget cuts. Hennigan bounced around various promotions and recently wrestled for Major League Wrestling.

Pro wrestlers going into boxing or MMA have been hit and miss. For every Brock Lesnar, there’s a CM Punk. For John Hennigan, his boxing career at least started on a positive note.
