As far as we can tell, only four people ever wore The Million-Dollar Belt. The “Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase, Virgil, The Ringmaster (a pre-Stone Cold Steve Austin), and Ted DiBiase, Jr.

While that specific championship belt belongs to the WWE, a new money-centric belt is up for grabs this weekend.

At the latest press conference for this weekend’s boxing showdown between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor, WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman unveiled the Money Belt, which will go to the winner of the bout.

Yep, that’s a championship belt that consists of 3,360 diamonds, 600 sapphires, 300 emeralds, 1.5 kg of solid 24 karat gold all on an alligator leather strap.

We’re gonna be honest, given all of that, it still looks pretty cheap. Then again, it’s probably the best metaphor for the overhyped fight, which is likely to rake in millions of dollars based on its hype but fail to deliver on much value.

Of course, being a Mayweather-McGregor press conference, there had to be some bon mots as well.

While McGregor is getting a lot of hype, Mayweather remains the heavy betting favorite.
