Alabama basketball received some good news Tuesday as it was announced that freshman point guard will be returning for his sophomore season.
Sears played a huge part in Alabama’s run last year in the SEC and the NCAA Tournament. Sears and Jahvon Quinerly who is also expected to return explored their NBA options.
Head coach Nate Oats of course is pleased by the news.
“He’ll form one of the best backcourts in the country with him and we anticipate (Jahvon) Quinerly coming back,” Oats said.
Wednesday is the last day for players to declare for the NBA. One Alabama player that has done that was center Charles Bediako.
Oats admitted he was stunned when he decided not to return.
“With Charles’ decision, I mean he’s a great kid and we love him, but that surprised us a little bit with the feedback we got,” Oats said. “You didn’t really pursue bigs in the portal because you anticipate (his return) but now you have to figure out another option.”
Most Alabama fans were thrilled to hear the news especially with Bama losing several players to the NBA already from last year’s team.

As you can tell, most Alabama fans seem to be excited about Sears coming back and the potential for this team next year to make another NCAA run.
