Northwestern game-winner against Indiana.

The Northwestern Wildcats took on the Indiana Hoosiers on Wednesday in a game that went down to the wire. Both teams had a chance to win the game in the final moments, leading to an incredible finish of a highly entertaining Big Ten battle.

Indiana clawed all the way back from an 18-point deficit at halftime to tie the game up with just 28 seconds remaining. This led to the biggest moment in the career of Northwestern senior guard Boo Buie, hitting a go-ahead layup to put the Wildcats on top with just two seconds remaining.

Hoosiers guard Jalen Hood-Schifino launched a prayer for the win, which was just off-line hitting the front of the rim for a 64-62 Northwestern victory.

This wild finish and win for Northwestern drew a ton of reactions around the college basketball world. Many praised Northwestern for their ability to stave off the comeback attempt from Indiana in the final moments.

This upset win for Northwestern comes just three days and upset win over No.1 ranked Purdue. It marks the first time since 2009 that the Wildcats have beaten ranked teams in back-to-back games.

After their win on Wednesday, Northwestern sits alone in second place in the Big Ten with a 19-7 overall record and a 10-5 record in conference play. After the massive win, Northwestern head coach Chris Collins made the bold proclamation that his team is “going to the tourney”.

He certainly may be right in his assessment, especially after this huge win. Coming into Wednesday’s matchup, ESPN’s Joe Linardi projected the Wildcats as a seven seed in the upcoming NCAA Tournament. That ranking will likely only go up after this huge win thanks to a clutch game-winner from Boo Buie.
