Bronny James, the son of NBA megastore LeBron James, is in the midst of his college basketball recruitment and recently visited the Ohio State Buckeyes. The visit seemed to go well – fans chanted his name, he posed for photos in a Buckeye uniform, and one prominent analyst even hinted that he could sign with Ohio State. But it looks like that won’t be the case.
On Tuesday night, Ohio State landed a commitment from four-star guard Taison Chatman. And according to Ohio State basketball insider Griffin Strom of Eleven Warriors, Chatman is expected to be the final high school recruit that the Buckeyes sign in their 2023 recruiting class. This means that Bronny is unlikely to sign with Ohio State.
“Despite the excitement surrounding the recruitment of four-star guard Bronny James, the son of LeBron James (who was also at the Notre Dame game), a source told Eleven Warriors that Chatman is likely to be the final high school recruit in Ohio State’s 2023 class,” Strom wrote on Wednesday. “The group now ranks fifth in the country and No. 2 in the Big Ten, behind only Michigan State.”
There’s still a chance Bronny could sign with the Buckeyes when all is said and done, but based on Strom’s report, that does not appear likely right now.
