Shortly after the University of Michigan’s basketball season ended, star center Hunter Dickinson announced that he was entering the Transfer Portal.
Dickinson has been one of the best players in the country over the last three seasons. He was a second-team All-American as a freshman in 2021. He was First-team All-Big Ten in 2021 and 2023 and Second-team in 2022. So naturally, fans around the country wondered where he might end up.
The wondering will soon end.
Dickinson tweeted out a statement on Wednesday night. The majority of it was spent thanking the people at the University of Michigan for the last three years. But in the statement, he also announced that he’ll be announcing his decision on Thursday, saying “Before I announce tomorrow where I will be attending next year, I wanted to take the time to say thank you.”
Naturally, that sparked a lot of interest among college basketball fans.

The hype is understandable.
Dickinson averaged 17.2 points, 8.4 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game in this three years at Michigan, while shooting 57% from the field and 75.3% from the free-throw line. At 7-foot-1, Dickinson doesn’t shoot much from long distance, but he’s proven himself to be capable, shooting 36% on three-pointers.
So, whichever school lands Dickinson will be getting one of the best players in the country.
