The Iowa Hawkeyes and women’s college basketball sensation Caitlin Clark took on the Louisville Cardinals with a chance to play in the Final Four on the line. Clark has been huge for the Hawkeyes all season, and Sunday night was no exception, making NCAA Tournament history in the process.
Clark largely dominated Louisville in as aspects of the game on Sunday night, putting up 41 points along with 12 assists and ten rebounds.
This was enough to secure a 97-83 victory for Iowa and punch their ticket to the Final Four for the first time in 30 years.

Clark’s performance puts her in a category of her own in terms of the best games in the history of the NCAA Tournament. She became the first person to ever record a 40-point triple-double in an NCAA Tournament game. It is also the highest-scoring triple-double in either Men’s or Women’s NCAA Tournament history.
Per NCAA Final Four Records books, Caitlin Clark's 41 points tonight is the top scoring total in a triple-double in any tournament game — women's or men's (official stats or unofficial).

Clark has had some extremely high expectations of her this entire season due to her excellent career at Iowa thus far. She exceeded her incredibly lofty standards with this unreal performance, which has garnered a ton of attention around the college basketball world.

12 assists.
10 rebounds. Before tonight no one had a 30 point triple double or 40 point triple double in Women’s March Madness history.

Caitlin Clark is a helluva player and what she did tonight is awesome for giving WBB more attention. A South Carolina matchup against her and Iowa is what those who follow the sport have wanted to see going back to last year. USC is one win away from making that game happen.

This victory for Iowa actually came in spite of a horrible tragedy for Iowa associate head coach Jan Jensen. Her father unfortunately passed on Sunday. Caitlin Clark took notice of this in her postgame press conference and dedicated this victory to Jensen’s father.
“I know her dad was watching from above tonight. He had the best seat in the house. Doing it for her and the rest of our coaching staff. They have been doing this for a long time and they deserve it.”

Clark is very clearly the biggest star that we have seen in the sport in quite some time. She will now get to play on the biggest stage of her collegiate career in a Final Four matchup against the winner of Monday’s Elite Eight matchup between South Carolina and Maryland.
