One of the biggest names to enter the NCAA men’s basketball transfer portal is Syracuse guard Joe Girard III. While with the Orange, the Syracuse guard averaged about 16.4 points, 3 assists, and 2.8 rebounds per game.

Whoever lands him, will have one of the better guards in the country. But the biggest question is, which school will he choose?

According to CBS Sports college basketball insider Jon Rothstein, at least 18 schools have reached out to Girard. Yes, you heard correctly, 18!

These schools are: Indiana, Pitt, Tennessee, Auburn, Butler, LSU, Florida, Ohio State, Loyola-hicago, Stanford, Clemson, Nebraska, BYU, Arkansas, Washington, Notre Dame, Maryland, and Oklahoma.

Any of these fine institutions would love to have his services, but what programs best suit him? One of the things we’ve seen throughout this year’s tournament is that guards played a huge part in the teams who made the tournament this year, especially great shooting guards.

But does Girard want to go to a program like LSU or Clemson that didn’t make the tournament this year? Or will he want to go to a place like Tennessee or Maryland that actually made it? They’d be a team that may be closer to making a run in the tournament next year.

Who knows? But it might be a while before Girard makes a final decision about where he lands in the transfer portal.
