The Louisville Cardinals, who suffered through the worst year in the program’s modern history this season, have some huge help on the way.
Literally.
The Star Tribune in Minneapolis reported Sunday that 7-1 center Dennis Evans, a five-star recruit out of California, has committed to Louisville.
Evans had been committed to play for the Minnesota Golden Gophers, but asked to be released Feb. 24.
The Star Tribune reported Evans made his decision this weekend during a recruiting visit to Louisville.
2023 5⭐️ Dennis Evans has committed to Louisville and Kenny Payne.
Evans is a long, 7-foot big man and one of the best interior defenders in the country. Has good touch on the offensive end.
He was previously committed to Minnesota. #11 in the ‘23 class, per Rivals. @rtpgfx pic.twitter.com/CXwXbNlCW2

While he’s better known for his defensive ability, Evans has skills at the other end of the court, too.

ELITE level rim protector with immense upside as a prospect/ player.

Finally, Cardinals fans have something to cheer about a 4-28 season.
Great news!

I have a feeling that if Dennis Evans was committed to Kentucky he would have 5 ⭐ lol Honestly what’s up with that ? Why are all of Louisville’s recruits rankings lowered mysteriously after or right before they commit. Seems like a trend. I could be wrong. JS 👀 pic.twitter.com/uoTu6YVjSp

Dennis has a ton of potential but very raw. He’s a legit 4 star player. 30-50 range.

Imagine #Louisville picked up commitments from Skyy Clark, Dennis Evans, and Trentyn Flowers all in a week. And then if Dayvion McKnight officially hits the portal, and then he comes here too. Would be absolute chaos. #GoCards
