Villanova basketball star Maddy Siegrist made history on Friday night.

Siegrist, a three-time AP All-American, a three-time All-Big East First Team selection, and the 2022 Big East Player of the Year went into the record books. Siegrist became the Villanova program’s all-time leading scorer. That’s for men’s and women’s basketball, no less, as Siegrist recorded her 2,409th point Friday night against Creighton.

“History has been made!!!” Villanova WBB’s Twitter account exuberantly tweeted. “With a basket at the 6:32 mark of the fourth quarter, Maddy Siegrist became the all-time leading scorer in the history of Villanova Basketball with 2,409 points. She breaks the 36-year-old record that was held by Shelly Pennefather.”

Siegrist’s 2,409 career points for the Wildcats far surpass the 2,243 points from men’s leader, Kerry Kittles.

Maddy Siegrist has enjoyed a celebrated, illustrious career with the Wildcats. She is a former 14-time Big East Player of the Week, which is the most in conference history. Prior to winning the conference’s Player of the Year Award, the conference named her Freshman of the Year in 2019.

Siegrist has accomplished so many things, Villanova has its own page dedicated to all of them on their website.

Suffice it to say, since it’s only January, that record is likely to really swell. The closest men’s player to even approach Kittles’ mark was Scottie Reynolds, and he recorded 2,222 points. Siegrist is at all-time great status at Villanova now, there’s no argument against that.
